Hotlink Protection
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009Hotlink protection disables the ability for other internet users to directly link from files on your website to theirs. This means that your bandwiths (website traffic) can not be drained by people viewing the other persons website.
You can ajust which file types can and cannot be linked from your site by adding the file type under the “Block direct access for these extensions.” In the HotLink Protection section of your cpanel.
Common files types hotlinked are gif, jpg and png files. So it will be a good idea to protect those file types if you are on a small bandwith package.
