Uploading / Publishing your web sites with Adobe Dreamweaver:

How to:

Before uploading you need to make sure you have your site properties correctly set. This is where you tell Dreamweaver where your web sites files are location and also specify the server which you want to upload your site to:
> Define your web site in Dreamweaver.
> From site menu click define a site then choose ‘New Site’, the site definition screen will then load.
> Select the advanced tab.
> In the local info category then specify the following:
>> SITE NAME / This is your web sites name.
>> Local Root Folder / This is the folder on your hard drive where your files are stored e.g. C:\Documents\Site
>> Default images folder  – This is the folder where your site’s image files are located. For example C:\Documents\Site\images
>> HTTP address. Input your domain name. For example, http://your-domain.com

> From the Category menu, select the Remote Info item.

From the Access menu, then select the FTP tab.

  • FTP host. Type your FTP host name without the ftp:// prefix. For example, your-domain.com.
  • Host directory. Specify the directory on the server where your site will upload to.
  • Login & password. Specify the login name & password for access to the FTP account.
  • Use passive FTP. Select this option only if your computer is behind a firewall.
    Specify the following settings:

  1. To make sure you have entered the correct details and dreamweaver can connect please click the test button.
  2. To save the settings, click OK.
  3. Now to publish your site:

  4. Open your site in Dreamweaver.
  5. From the Site menu, select the Put option (or press Ctrl+Shift+U simultaneously), this will make the files to be published over the server.
