Ever wanted to make a certain part of your site ‘members only’?
The Password Protect feature is an extremely useful way to password protect certain parts of your site. Simply click on the directory you wish to protect you you will be asked for the following
- Password Protect Checkbox - you MUST tick this box to switch on Password Protection
- Protected Resource Name - this will appear in the password box the user will see, for example you could have ‘mysite.com member’s only area’
- Username
- Password
Please note this is only a very basic (and not totally secure) way of password protecting areas of your site

HotLink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that you don’t specify (ie. html files). An example of hotlinking would be using a
tag to display an image from your site from somewhere else on the net. The end result is that the other site is stealing your bandwidth. You should ensure that all sites that you wish to allow direct links from are in the list below. This system attempts to add all sites it knows you own to the list, however you may need to add others.

The FTP manager controls all aspects of FTP access to your site.
Using FTP Account Maintenance you can add/remove FTP users and set their permissions, for example a user may only have access to certain directories within your site or you can give them access to the site root if required.
You can also download FTP logs to analyse your FTP user’s activity. Please note: these logs are in .tar.gz format (the linux equivalent to .zip files) so in order to view them you will need to expand them - we recommend using 7zip (www.7-zip.org) - a free software utility.
For security reasons we do not recommend you offer anonymous FTP access to your site.
You can also use the FTP Session Control feature to terminate current FTP sessions.
